About this Event

For millions of people with celiac disease and other medical conditions requiring them to avoid gluten, eating at a restaurant or trying an unfamiliar food can come with an uncomfortable question: Is this actually safe for me to eat?

NIMA is putting the answer in the palm of their hands in the form of a handheld sensor that can test a food sample for gluten contamination in approximately three minutes with 99% accuracy. Consumers simply place a small sample into a disposable testing capsule, insert it into the NIMA sensor and receive a result before eating.

Every test contributes to NIMA’s growing database of restaurants and foods, creating a crowdsourced food safety intelligence network that becomes more valuable as more people use it. NIMA ultimately plans to expand its platform beyond gluten to additional allergens, potentially including peanuts and dairy.

NIMA reports strong early commercial traction, including $3.4 million in annual recurring revenue, thousands of sensors in use, high customer retention and strong customer satisfaction. Its recurring revenue model is driven by ongoing purchases of disposable testing capsules, while longer-term opportunities include subscriptions, restaurant certification, food ratings, employer and university programs, and B2B data products.

Join us for an executive briefing with Mike Glick, CEO of NIMA, to learn how the company is building a personal food safety platform designed to give consumers greater confidence in what they eat.
