About this Event

Developing a breakthrough medicine requires far more than a promising scientific discovery. It takes a deep understanding of disease biology, the ability to identify the right therapeutic target, sophisticated chemistry to turn that insight into a viable drug, and a clinical strategy capable of proving that it can meaningfully improve patients’ lives.

Join our all-star panel discussion for a fascinating conversation about how great science becomes great medicine, why so many promising ideas fail along the way, and what leading scientists look for when determining whether a discovery has the potential to become an important new therapy.
  • Larry Steinman, MD | Trethera Scientific Advisor, Neuroimmunology & Multiple Sclerosis
Stanford Professor and member of the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine whose landmark research into brain inflammation helped lead to Tysabri, now used by more than 200,000 MS patients. A leading authority on neuroimmunology and autoimmune disease, Steinman has co-founded multiple life sciences companies, including Neurocrine Biosciences.
  • Michael E. Jung, PhD | Trethera Co-Founder, Medicinal Chemistry & Drug Discovery
Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at UCLA and internationally recognized medicinal chemist whose laboratory produced two FDA-approved prostate cancer drugs, Xtandi and Erleada. Jung holds more than 25 patents and has published more than 250 articles. He brings decades of proven drug-discovery expertise to Trethera and the development of TRE-515.
  • Kenneth A. Schultz, MD | Trethera CEO & Chairman
Physician and biotech executive leading Trethera and the clinical development of TRE-515. Schultz previously held leadership roles at Halozyme Therapeutics, Medtronic Diabetes and McKinsey & Company. He also serves as principal investigator on federally funded research advancing TRE-515 across cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Most biotechnology companies are built around a single disease. Trethera is built around an untapped biological pathway that offers multiple shots on goal.

Trethera’s drug, TRE-515, is a first-in-class oral therapy targets dCK, an enzyme in the DNA salvage pathway that is highly active across many solid tumors, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory disorders.

TRE-515 completed Phase 1 dose escalation in over 30 patients with advanced solid tumors and subsequently received FDA Fast Track designation for metastatic prostate cancer. Encouraging observations from an FDA-authorized Expanded Access patient supported initiation of an ALS trial (n=6) at Massachusetts General Hospital. TRE-515 has also received an Orphan Drug designation for optic neuritis, inflammation of the optic nerve which typically causes vision loss and pain with eye movement.

Register today to reserve your space for this Fireside Chat with three legends of the biotech industry to learn more about this new pathway and the power the therapy that targets it has to treat a broad range of solid tumors, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory disorders.
