Kesmalea Therapeutics is developing an important new approach to treating Alzheimer’s: an oral, brain-penetrant drug designed to selectively eliminate pathological tau, a protein strongly associated with Alzheimer’s progression and neuronal loss. Rather than suppressing production of all tau, Kesmalea’s lead degraders are designed to selectively remove pathological forms while preserving healthy tau, which plays an important role in neuronal function. Early results are compelling with greater than 90% tau degradation.
