L’Horizon Resort & Spa

Designed By Steve Hermann

With a reputation that nearly outshines its star-studded history, the present day L’Horizon Resort and Spa is a destination of distinction, with old-Hollywood glamour and infinite style. The sprawling 3-acre compound is enclosed with privacy hedges and encircled by the nearby mountains. From its semi-hidden entrance, a cut in the tall front hedge, visitors enter a rarified enclave that mixes the elegance of famous Palm Springs architecture with warm and modernistic environs. Originally designed in 1952 by esteemed architect William F. Cody, his work at L’Horizon is considered one of the finest examples of Mid-Century architecture on the West Coast. This bungalow style resort was commissioned by television producer, oil tycoon and hotelier, Jack Wrather, to be a getaway for himself, his wife, and their Hollywood pals. In its glory guests included Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, several presidents, and international luminaries. If only those palm trees could talk.

Today an air of exclusivity still prevails. Everything is at least two notches above the anticipated at L’Horizon, from the beautiful landscaping, excellent, efficient, and warm service to the design and amenities in the guest bungalows, which include spacious bathrooms and outdoor showers. Sculptural palms, hedges, cacti, and magnificent succulents punctuate the fine lines of the buildings, walkways, and pool. Now a Steve Hermann Hotel, L’Horizon Resort and Spa redefines desert modern design. Mr. Hermann, an internationally acclaimed designer, deftly infuses modern luxury into every detail. The 25 guest bungalows are rich in warm and natural tones that accent the crisp white walls and graphic patterns. Truly imaginable as a fabricated and glamorous movie set, L’Horizon Resort and Spa immerses guests in their surroundings while welcoming them to indulge their every comfort, including fine dining and refined relaxation.

Old Hollywood Glamour Meets Modern Luxury

The indoor-outdoor spa offers a wealth of treatments that include reviving body and skin rehydration treatments. Complimenting a poolside afternoon with a pampering spa treatment, in such beautiful settings, is the ultimate in luxury living. Inside a tree filled courtyard the al fresco SO PA restaurant is yet another sanctuary of relaxed refinement. Executive Chef Jason Niederkorn’s perfectly prescribed California cuisine has gained high praise and dining at the intimate restaurant is a great and memorable pleasure. With its showcase of exceptional design throughout L’Horizon Resort and Spa is designed to welcome. And welcome it does. Like the many luminaries that have visited before you, your status is elevated to VIP once you check into L’Horizon Resort and Spa.
