An Eco-Friendly and Reliable Solution for Long Duration Energy Storage

About this Event

The key to unlocking the world’s transition to renewable energy is scalable long duration energy storage, and we’re going to need a lot of it. According to the LDES Annual Report we will need as much as 50 times more utility scale energy storage by 2040 than we have today. One of the most efficient and least expensive answers to this challenge is gravitational energy storage in the form of High-Density Hydro from RheEnergise.

RheEnergise has developed a high-density hydro gravitational energy storage system that stores 2.5x more energy than traditional hydro power. When energy is abundant and low-cost, high-density, all-natural liquid is pumped up to a holding tank at the top of a hill, creating gravitational potential energy.

When energy is in high demand, the fluid is released via a conduit to a turbine at the bottom of the hill, generating electricity. This closed loop system is ultra low-cost, scalable, quick to deploy, has low environmental impact, and is suitable even for dry climates. Because of its high potential energy, HD Hydro can be installed in small hills instead of mountains.

RheEnergise has already identified more than 350,000 viable sites in North America and has just brought online its 500 kW demonstration facility in the UK. The company has operations in the UK and Canada, including a state-of-the-art 15,000 sq.ft. R&D facility near Montreal. Their business model includes revenue from pre-construction consulting services, technology, equipment sales, and operations, maintenance and royalties. Initially, Rhenergise is targeting power hungry industries including mining, data centers, desalination plants, and existing solar and wind energy infrastructure that needs long term energy storage.

Register now to watch our Fireside Chat with RheEnergise CEO, Stephen Crosher, and CTO, Dr. Tamás Bertényi, to learn more about how RheEnergise is poised to capture a significant portion of the $3T market for Long Duration Energy Storage.
